{"id":1436,"date":"2024-06-19T12:19:58","date_gmt":"2024-06-19T12:19:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mediapbn.com\/?p=1436"},"modified":"2024-06-19T12:23:42","modified_gmt":"2024-06-19T12:23:42","slug":"vigilance-bureau-arrests-assistant-sub-inspector-for-demanding-rs-18000-bribe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mediapbn.com\/?p=1436","title":{"rendered":"Vigilance\u00a0Bureau arrests Assistant Sub Inspector for demanding Rs 18,000 bribe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Chandigarh: The Punjab\u00a0Vigilance\u00a0Bureau (VB), during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, on Wednesday, has arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Sikander Raj, earlier posted at police station Samrala and now posted at police station Doraha in Ludhiana district, for demanding a bribe of Rs 18,000.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">An official spokesperson of VB disclosed that <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">this case was registered<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> against the <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">aforementioned police<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> personnel based on a complaint lodged by Ravinder Singh, a resident of Sector 32-A, Chandigarh <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">road<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, Ludhiana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0The spokesperson further stated that the complainant had recorded his statement that on March 13, 2021, his driver <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rajdeep<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> Singh of Khadur Sahib, Taran Taran district, along with helper Birju, a resident of Sanjay Gandhi Colony, Ludhiana, had met with a road accident near Neelon bridge, Samrala. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">On that day, ASI Sikander Raj arrived at the spot from police station Samrala along with other police personnel and took both vehicles to the police station.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0After this, ASI Sikander Raj <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">had<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> demanded <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Rs<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> 20,000 bribe from the complainant for giving bail to his driver, releasing the luggage loaded on his vehicle, and getting his driver acquitted from the accident case registered against him. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The deal was eventually struck<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> at Rs 18,000. The complainant recorded the conversation regarding the demand for the bribe by the accused and submitted it to the VB as <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">an evidence<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 T<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">he spokesperson informed that during the investigation, the allegations leveled in the complaint <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">were <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">found<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> to be<\/span> <span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">true<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> and correct. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against ASI Sikander Raj, now posted at the police station Doraha. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The accused was arrested today from the police station Doraha by a team from the VB range Ludhiana and <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">would<\/span><span
