The week long residential Multidisciplinary Short term course In Developing Entrepreneurial Mindset: Teacher Facilitation And Student Mentorship organized by UGC Malviya mission teacher training center, Guru Nanak Dev University from July 1 to July 07 2026 concluded with the valedictory address by the Vice Chancellor Prof.(Dr). Karamjeet Singh.<\/p>\n
The Vice chancellor was welcomed by Prof. Balwinder Singh, Director MMTTC and Prof. Vasudha Sambyal, Course Coordinator and Dr. Rekha Handa Dy. Director MMTTC, who also coordinated the event.<\/p>\n
Prof. Karamjeet Singh stressed upon the importance of the academicians developing an entrepreneurial mindset and also being trained in the latest AI technology to be the catalyst for changing the orientation of their students from being a job seeker to an entrepreneur with job creating capability. The theme, Developing Entrepreneurial Mindset is about identifying a problem, finding a solution to it by innovation, making that solution available to the masses and becoming financially viable. In the current scenario of a changing world order and a rapid modification in the required skill set for being employable, the need is of encouraging out of box thinking among students to inculcate in them a spirit of entrepreneurship.<\/p>\n
The theme was reinforced again and again in the course by the ten Resource persons from different specialization of Commerce, management, Financial services, Engineering, Sciences and Humanities who brought forth their own special expertise to the sessions.<\/p>\n
The theoretical aspects of Entrepreneurship were detailed by Dr. Jaspal Singh, Professor in Financial Studies while the intellectual property rights were explained by Prof. Balwinder Singh Sooch, Punjabi University, Patiala. From GNDU, Prof. Atul Khanna, Dept. of Physics detailed the opportunities in Technology and STEM in India, which were further elaborated upon by Dr. Partap K Pati, Dept. of Biotechnology, in agriculture and food sector by developing new varieties and cultivars of cash crops and Prof. Arvinder Kaur, Dept. of Zoology in Ornamnetal fish culture as new enterprise and converting waste to weath by vermitechnology.<\/p>\n
Dr. Swarkar Sharma, Central University of Jammu, gave a practical demonstration of beginning a startup in a university, the support required within the university system to make it functional and the hardship involved in making it commercially successful. The government support schemes for Startups and MSME were described by Mr. Neeraj Kumar,consultant to Punjab govt. The various aspects of rules and regulations associated with wealth creation, money management and taxation were described in details with apt examples by experts from industry; Mr. Bhavesh Mahajan, CA, Dr. Siddarth Seth, wealth consultant and Mrs. Shilpa Gupta, CA.<\/p>\n
The 25 participants in the course were truly multidisciplinary and were from different fields of academics: Computer Science, Economics, English, Environmental Sciences, Languages, Literature, Laws, Management, Arts and Social Sciences and Sciences and from different states of India. The participants were awarded certificates on the successful completion of the course. The carry home message to the participants from the Hon\u2019ble Vice Chancellor was to acknowledge the change due to AI technology that is seeping in the present times, adapt to it, find new opportunities and be the harbinger of changes in their own institutions through entrepreneurial activities.
