Washington, DC [US], October 7, 2025:<\/strong> US President Donald Trump has taken a swipe at climate activist Greta Thunberg, claiming she has an \u201canger management problem\u201d and should seek medical help. His remarks came following Thunberg\u2019s detention and deportation from Israel, where she had joined the Global Sumud Flotilla<\/em>\u2014an initiative attempting to deliver aid to Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Labeling Thunberg a \u201ctroublemaker,\u201d Trump said he was astonished by her attitude for someone so young. \u201cShe\u2019s no longer into the environment now. She\u2019s just a troublemaker. She has an anger management problem. I think she should see a doctor,\u201d he told reporters, adding, \u201cShe\u2019s so angry, she\u2019s so crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to Al Jazeera<\/em>, Thunberg and around 160 activists from the flotilla were deported to Greece after Israeli authorities intercepted their vessels last week. Israel\u2019s Foreign Ministry confirmed that 171 individuals had been expelled, raising the total number of deported activists to 341.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Israeli military had detained about 450 participants, including Thunberg and four French lawmakers, claiming that the flotilla\u2019s ships were attempting to breach the Gaza blockade without carrying any humanitarian aid. Officials alleged that the operation\u2019s \u201ctrue goal was provocation in the service of Hamas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Israel has also dismissed reports of mistreatment of detained activists as \u201cbrazen lies,\u201d asserting that all detainees\u2019 legal rights were respected. Documents released by the Foreign Ministry reportedly linked the flotilla\u2019s organisation and funding to Hamas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The naval blockade on Gaza, jointly enforced by Israel and Egypt since 2007, aims to prevent the smuggling of weapons into the territory under Hamas control. Past efforts by international activists to break the blockade have drawn global attention, including the 2010 Mavi Marmara<\/em> incident, in which a UN inquiry later deemed Israel\u2019s use of force excessive but maintained the blockade\u2019s legality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, Trump acknowledged diplomatic efforts from countries like Qatar, Turkey, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan in pushing for peace in Gaza. \u201cEveryone wants this to happen,\u201d he said, expressing optimism about upcoming talks between delegations from Hamas, Israel, and the US in Egypt\u2019s Sharm el-Sheikh.
