Washington DC, November 26, 2025, BNN Web Staff \u2014 US President Donald Trump has directed his special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to advance discussions on a peace plan for Ukraine.<\/p>\n

Trump said the administration\u2019s 28-point plan, initially criticised for favoring Russia\u2019s demands, has been \u201cfine-tuned\u201d and that only a few points of disagreement remain. He added that he looks forward to meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Putin \u201conly when the deal to end this war is final or in its final stages.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ukraine has expressed interest in moving forward with the agreement, but Zelenskyy emphasized the need to discuss certain elements with Trump and European leaders.<\/p>\n

In a speech to a coalition of European nations, Zelenskyy urged leaders to outline a framework for a \u201creassurance force\u201d and continue support for Kyiv as long as Moscow remains unwilling to end hostilities.<\/p>\n

US and Ukrainian officials are working to narrow differences on the revised peace plan, with Kyiv cautious about agreeing to terms that could largely favor the Kremlin.
