Google’s internal communication reportedly highlighted that some diplomatic missions currently have appointment wait times of as long as 12 months.

The development follows the Trump administration’s recent decision to tighten vetting procedures for H-1B visas, commonly used by highly skilled foreign professionals, particularly in the technology sector. The enhanced checks include closer examination of applicants’ social media activity.

The H-1B programme, which plays a crucial role in enabling U.S. tech companies to hire talent from countries such as India and China, has also come under pressure due to a steep increase in application costs. Earlier this year, the administration imposed a $100,000 fee on new H-1B visa applications.

Neither Google nor Apple has officially commented on the advisory so far.

Immigration law firms representing the firms have attributed the delays to newly introduced social media screening requirements, raising concerns that

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

229
1390,82,2888,2889,3193,3194,1964,2814,3195,3196
post-33692","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-world-news","tag-apple","tag-google","tag-h-1b-visa","tag-skilled-workers","tag-social-media-screening","tag-tech-industry","tag-trump-administration","tag-us-immigration","tag-visa-delays","tag-work-visas
"1536x1536":false,"2048x2048":false
https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/18e12f979c7dbcc2096868fc531de295a11443c392b4bb6e60ce343131707eaa?s=96&d=mm&r=g
Immigration law firms representing the firms have attributed the delays to newly introduced social media screening requirements, raising concerns that
World News
https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/18e12f979c7dbcc2096868fc531de295a11443c392b4bb6e60ce343131707eaa?s=96&d=mm&r=g
World News

<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.8 -
