Washington DC (US), April 14, 2026, BNN Web Staff: Donald Trump has delivered a strong warning to Iran over the future of the ongoing ceasefire, cautioning that failure to reach an agreement could lead to serious consequences. He also firmly reiterated that Tehran will not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

Speaking to reporters, Trump avoided detailing specific actions if talks collapse but stressed that the outcome “won’t be pleasant” for Iran.

He claimed that hostilities have paused for now, with the United States maintaining pressure through a blockade that has significantly curtailed Iran’s economic activity.

Highlighting Washington’s stance, Trump asserted that Iran’s military capabilities had been weakened and insisted that the US would continue its current strategy with ease.

He further emphasised that there would be no compromise on the nuclear issue, making it clear that Iran would not be permitted to develop or possess nuclear weapons under any circumstances.

Accusing Iran of attempting to pressure the global community, Trump said the US would not allow any country to “blackmail” the world.

He also pointed to ongoing energy movements, noting that multiple shipments were heading toward the US to strengthen oil supplies.

Meanwhile, discussions are underway within the US administration over the possibility of holding another face-to-face meeting with Iranian officials before the ceasefire deadline.

According to CNN, no final decision has been taken, but potential dates and venues are being considered depending on progress in ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Sources familiar with the matter described the talks as preliminary, indicating that preparations are being kept flexible in case negotiations advance rapidly.

A high-level meeting held in Islamabad on April 11 marked a key moment in weeks of backchannel diplomacy involving senior US officials and mediators from multiple countries, including Turkey, Egypt and Oman.
