‘0001’ Sets Record as Chandigarh’s Costliest Number Plate at ₹36.43 Lakh

The registration number CH01-DA-0001 has created history in Chandigarh, emerging as the most expensive vehicle number ever sold in the city. In a record-breaking e-auction conducted by the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA), Sector-17, the coveted number fetched a staggering ₹36.43 lakh. (Number Plate at ₹36.43 Lakh)

The second-highest bid in the new CH01-DA series was for CH01-DA-0003, which went under the hammer for ₹17.84 lakh.

This auction surpassed all previous records, including the CH01-CW series, where the RLA had earned ₹2.26 crore in total revenue. In that round, 0001 sold for ₹16.50 lakh, while 0009 was auctioned for ₹10 lakh. A total of 489 fancy numbers were allotted in the CW series.

Participation in the e-auction is open only to Chandigarh residents, who must first register on the National Transport website. Successful bidders are required to deposit the winning amount before the allotment of numbers.

The record-breaking bid once again reflects the growing craze for fancy number plates in Chandigarh, where prestige often outweighs the price tag.
