Punjab: Rescue operation underway for students trapped in school

All Latest NewsWorld News
Gurdaspur (Punjab): A major rescue operation has been launched in Gurdaspur after several students were trapped inside Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya due to flooding. The school, which is run by the Central Government, was not vacated despite clear orders from the Deputy Commissioner issued three days ago.
Sources said that the DC had directed the school authorities to evacuate the premises as a precautionary measure amid rising flood levels. However, the orders were ignored, leaving children stranded when water entered the campus.
Taking serious note of this lapse, officials have said that strict action will be initiated against the school Principal for failing to comply with government directives.
Teams of the district administration and NDRF have now begun rescue operations to safely evacuate the students.
