Punjab Computer Teachers to Hold ‘Satyagraha’ Alongside Kejriwal in Delhi; Teachers to Reach Wherever Convenor Goes
Punjab Computer Teachers to Hold ‘Satyagraha’ Alongside Kejriwal in Delhi; Teachers to Reach Wherever Convenor Goes
Chandigarh, April 30, 2026-
The voice against the breach of promise by the Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab regarding computer teachers posted in the Education Department will now echo on the streets of Delhi. In a major strategic move, the Computer Faculty Association Punjab has announced that they will now go to Delhi and start a ‘Satyagraha’ alongside AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Just as Kejriwal has chosen the path of ‘Satyagraha’ citing a lack of justice against court proceedings, computer teachers will now reach his every program to register their protest. Every day, a batch of teachers from one district of Punjab will leave for Delhi to tell the public the story of the injustice meted out to them by the Aam Aadmi Party.
Sharing information in this regard, State President Pradeep Kumar Maluka, Jaspal Fatehgarh Sahib, Lakhwinder Singh Ferozpur, Paramveer Singh Pammi, Harcharan Singh and Jatinder Singh Sodhi, stated that while Kejriwal is performing Satyagraha for his own rights and justice, his own government in Punjab is strangling the rights of thousands of computer teachers. Now, the teachers will walk alongside Kejriwal to show the world the massive gap between the AAP government’s words and actions.
AAP Government Forgets 2022 Promises, Rights Being Violated
Attacking the Punjab government sharply, the teacher leaders said that the promises made by the Aam Aadmi Party during the 2022 elections to secure the future of teachers were put on the back burner as soon as they came to power. While Kejriwal himself is performing Satyagraha by questioning the judiciary, his party leaders remain silent on the question of providing justice to 6,640 computer teachers in Punjab. The leaders said they will now reach every place where Kejriwal is present and demand their rights alongside his Satyagraha.
Education Minister’s ‘Diwali Gift’ Turned Out to Be a Mere Gimmick
Expressing their anger, the leaders mentioned that on September 15, 2022, Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains had announced that computer teachers would be shifted into the department as a ‘Diwali gift’ and the 6th Pay Commission would be implemented. However, even after years have passed, that announcement has proved to be nothing more than a political gimmick and a deception. Teachers who have been serving in schools for the last 21 years are still forced to struggle on the streets for their legitimate rights.
Main Demand: Merger into the Department and 6th Pay Commission
Reiterating their primary demands, the leaders insisted that computer teachers be merged into the Education Department without any conditions and be given the benefits of the 6th Pay Commission. Additionally, financial aid and government jobs should be provided to the families of deceased teachers. They warned that if the government does not accept their demands soon, this Satyagraha alongside Kejriwal in Delhi will be intensified, and a major struggle will soon erupt on the streets of Sangrur as well.
