Saragarhi Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour; 21 Sikh Heroes Remembered for Their Supreme Sacrifice
New Delhi, September 16, 2026: The Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa NCC Company organised a solemn and inspiring Saragarhi Day celebration on September 15, 2026, to commemorate the legendary Battle of Saragarhi and pay tribute to the 21 Sikh soldiers who displayed extraordinary courage and made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
The event was graced by Col. Bhagwan Singh Bisht, Sena Medal, Commanding Officer, 5 Delhi Battalion, along with Risaldar Major Dinesh Singh, Subedar Major Jaswat Singh, Associate NCC Officer Lt. Dr. Gurjeet Kaur, Care Taker Officer Dr. Parkash Singh and faculty members.
The programme highlighted the historical significance of Saragarhi Day and emphasised the values of courage, sacrifice, discipline and dedication demonstrated by the 21 Sikh soldiers during the historic battle.
The celebrations featured patriotic poetry recitations and a special skit depicting the Battle of Saragarhi. The skit emerged as the major highlight of the programme, vividly portraying the bravery, sacrifice and unwavering determination of the 21 soldiers through powerful narration, dialogues and performances.
Following the skit, a documentary on the 21 soldiers was screened, providing deeper insight into their lives, the historic battle and the enduring legacy of the Saragarhi heroes. The presentation helped the audience connect with the extraordinary circumstances in which the soldiers fought and ultimately laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Addressing the gathering, Col. Bhagwan Singh Bisht, Sena Medal, Commanding Officer, 5 Delhi Battalion, highlighted the enduring lessons of the Battle of Saragarhi. He stressed the importance of courage, discipline, leadership, duty and selfless service, urging the participants to draw inspiration from the commitment and sacrifice of the soldiers.
The celebration concluded with a strong message of bravery, sacrifice, unity and patriotism, making the occasion a memorable tribute to the heroes of Saragarhi and their lasting contribution to India’s military heritage.
