Help desks: “In order to upgrade the working capacity of labourers, capsule/short courses should be conducted, instructions to officers” – Vij

Haryana Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that “I want to bring about a complete transformation in the functioning of the Labour Department, and by adopting transparency, implement innovative working systems for the upliftment of labourers so that the benefits of central and state government schemes can reach the actual beneficiaries.” In addition, he said that help desks will soon be set up at the block level by the Labour Department for the convenience of the Labourers/Workers.

Sh. Vij was presiding over a meeting with officers of the Labour Department here in Chandigarh today. On this occasion, Principal Secretory to Labour Department, Sh. Rajeev Ranjan was also present.

Labour Minister Sh. Vij said that the Labour Department will soon set up help desks at the block level, where workers will be able to register themselves and avail the benefits of various schemes of the central and state governments.

While instructing the Labour Department officers, Sh. Vij said that “I want that in one way or another, short/capsule courses should be conducted to upgrade the working capacity of labourers, so that they can improve and perform better in their fields.” He directed the officials that such short courses should be of three to six months’ duration so that labourers do not face difficulty in earning their livelihood while undergoing training. These short courses should also have proper certification.

Sh. Vij said that “I want that skill development of labourers should take place so that their standard of living can be elevated.” Sh. Vij said that our Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi ji’s vision is to make India a developed nation by the year 2047, and for this, the skill development of labourers/workers is very important, as they play a significant role in nation building.

The Labour Minister said the officers that he believes every industrial area in the state must have skilled labourers/workers so that the development of the nation can progress rapidly. He said that today is the era of technology, and progress in any field can be achieved through the power of technology, hence technical courses should be made available for the upliftment of labourers/workers.
