Nashik (Maharashtra), August 10, 2025 — The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has uncovered an illegal call centre operating out of rented premises at the Rainforest Resort in Igatpuri, Nashik, Maharashtra. The racket was allegedly run by a group of private individuals, the agency said in an official release.

The CBI registered the cyber fraud case on August 8, 2025, naming six accused — all Mumbai residents — along with unidentified individuals and certain bank officials.

The FIR claims the suspects conspired to commit large-scale financial fraud by running a fake “Amazon Support Services” call centre. They allegedly made phishing and deceptive calls, targeting people in the United States, Canada, and other countries, and profited through gift cards and cryptocurrency.

Investigators say the accused had hired about 60 staff members, including dialers, verifiers, and closers, to manage the operations.

Raids led to the seizure of 44 laptops, 71 mobile phones, other digital evidence, unaccounted cash worth ₹1.20 crore, 500 grams of gold, and seven luxury cars valued at ₹1 crore.

The probe also revealed cryptocurrency transactions amounting to approximately 5,000 USDT (₹5 lakh) and Canadian gift vouchers worth 2,000 CAD (₹1.26 lakh).
