PM Modi flags off Amritsar–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express

New Delhi, August 10, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Amritsar–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Vande Bharat Express, enhancing connectivity for pilgrims and boosting regional development.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha thanked the Prime Minister for dedicating the high-speed train to the public, highlighting its role in easing travel for devotees and accelerating the local economy.

He noted that under PM Modi’s leadership, the Union Territory’s transport infrastructure—especially railways—has seen remarkable progress. Sinha also pointed out that on August 9, the first freight train from Punjab arrived in Anantnag, marking a major milestone for trade and logistics in the Kashmir Valley.

In a post on X, Sinha wrote, “Grateful to Hon’ble PM Narendra Modi Ji for flagging off the Vande Bharat Train between Amritsar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. This will ease pilgrim travel and fuel economic growth. The arrival of the first freight train in Anantnag is a landmark for the Valley’s trade and infrastructure.”
