Patiala Police arrest murder accused after encounter
Patiala (Punjab); A wanted criminal, Gurpreet Singh, was arrested on Tuesday morning following a gunfight with police in Rajpura, Patiala.
Police said Singh, the prime accused in the brutal murder of Tarsem Singh in village Gajju Majra on August 20, opened fire when a team tried to apprehend him after receiving a tip-off. In retaliatory firing, he sustained a bullet injury in his leg and was overpowered.
Patiala SSP Varun Sharma confirmed that Singh, a habitual offender facing multiple cases of murder, robbery, and dacoity, had been absconding since the killing. Preliminary investigation revealed he was planning another major crime in the area, which was foiled by the police operation.
Singh is currently under interrogation to trace his network and criminal links.
