Doda (Jammu & Kashmir) – A sudden cloudburst struck the Thathri sub-division of Doda district on Tuesday, causing widespread destruction and reducing more than 10 houses to rubble.

Torrential rains triggered landslides, mudslides, and rockfalls, blocking the National Highway with heavy debris and bringing traffic to a standstill. The strong water flow severed connectivity in several areas, further complicating relief and rescue efforts.

Rescue teams have reached the site and operations are underway at full pace. Authorities have sounded a heavy rainfall alert and advised people to stay away from rivers and streams. While no casualties have been reported so far, the situation remains tense.

The disaster has revived memories of recent cloudbursts in Kishtwar and Thathri, which caused severe damage. The Meteorological Department has warned of more heavy rains in the coming days.
