Evacuation underway in flood-hit villages of Sultanpur Lodhi; over 45 rescued

Sultanpur Lodhi (Kapurthala) – Rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing in the flood-affected villages of Sultanpur Lodhi following the rise in water levels of the Beas River.
Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal said that due to heavy rains and increased water flow in the river, residents of low-lying areas had been advised to shift to safer places.
Teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) evacuated around 45 people, mostly women and children, from the affected villages including Baupur Jadid, Baupur Kadim, Sangra, Rampur Gora, Mand Bhim Kadim, Mand Bandhu Jadid, and Muhammadabad.
Inspector Deepak, team commander of SDRF, said that along with people, their essential belongings were also being safely moved.
The Deputy Commissioner further appealed to people to contact the District Control Room at 01822-231990, Sultanpur Lodhi Sub-Division Flood Control Room at 01828-222169, or Bhulath Sub-Division Helpline at 01822-271829 for any assistance.
