International Mother Language Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm at SGTB Khalsa College, Delhi

Delhi, February 21, 2026: Under the patronage of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur (SGTB) Khalsa College, University of Delhi, celebrated International Mother Language Day on February 20, 2026. The event was organized at the Guru Arjan Dev Seminar Hall in collaboration with the Punjabi Department and the Punjabi Literary Society “Firdaus.”

Following the college tradition, the program commenced with a soulful Shabad Gayan (religious hymn) by the students of the Anhad Society. The event was held under the leadership of the College Principal, Prof. Gurmohinder Singh, while Prof. Gurinder Singh played a vital role in the meticulous planning and smooth execution of the ceremony.

Renowned scholars from the Department of Punjabi, University of Delhi, Prof. Ravinder Singh and Prof. Baljinder Nasrali, attended as keynote speakers. They shared their insights on the significance of the mother tongue, cultural identity, and the urgent need to preserve literary heritage. They further inspired the students to stay connected with books and their native language.

The entire Punjabi Department contributed actively to the success of the event. Under the leadership of Department Convenor Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, the team comprising Dr. Ravinder Kaur Bedi, Dr. Paramjit Kaur, Dr. Gurdeep Kaur Sura, Dr. Kawaljit Kaur, and Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Ahuja played significant roles in the planning and performance of the program.

The hard work and dedication of the department made the event highly successful and memorable. In conclusion, Dr. Paramjit Kaur presented a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the speakers, students, guests, and attendees.
