Punjab Roadways, Punbus, PRTC Contract Workers Union to withdraw agitation following Govt assurance

Ferozepur, July 8,2026:

The Punjab State Bus Stand Management Company Limited (PBSBMCL) has urged Punbus and Punjab Roadways employees to withdraw their ongoing agitation after the state government assured that their long-pending demands would be addressed through a transparent process.

Resham Singh Gill, State President, Roadways, Punbus, PRTC Contract Workers Union said that iIn an official communication issued on Tuesday, the Managing Director of PBSBMCL informed employee unions that the government has decided to appoint a nodal officer to facilitate discussions and resolve issues related to outsourced employees engaged through contractors and manpower agencies.

The letter states that the nodal officer will hold meetings with representatives of the outsourced employees and the concerned contractor/manpower agency over the next 10 days to examine their demands and work towards an appropriate solution.

The Managing Director appealed to all employee unions to call off their strike immediately in view of the government’s initiative and cooperate in the dialogue process.

A separate communication has also been issued to M/s S Ram Manpower Services Pvt. Ltd., Chandigarh, directing the agency to nominate its representative for the discussions and ensure participation in the meetings so that the issues raised by the outsourced employees can be resolved amicably.

The government’s move is expected to bring relief to commuters across Punjab, as bus services are likely to return to normal once the agitation is officially withdrawn.
