Computer Teachers to Protest Against CM Mann with Black Flags in Firozpur on August 15, Announce Major Demonstration by Burning 2022 Election Manifesto

In continuation of the ongoing struggle by computer teachers across the state to raise their voice for their rights, the Computer Faculty Association (Punjab) has made a major announcement to stage a sharp protest and show black flags to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Man upon his arrival in Firozpur on Independence Day, August 15. During this action led by the association, the Aam Aadmi Party’s 2022 election manifesto will be burned to protest against the government’s unfulfilled promises and to make the public aware of the government’s reality. Several other fraternal organizations will also participate in large numbers in this protest demonstration.
Association office-bearers Pradeep Kumar Maluka, Lakhwinder Singh Firozpur, Gurwinder Singh, Jatinder Singh Sodhi, Manish Mudki, Mintu Thomas, Vikas Chhabra, Mohan Lal, Gurbaksh Singh, Ramit Narang, Balwinder Singh, Kamalpreet Singh, Gaurav, Gurdeep Singh, Mandeep Kaur, Asha, Sarika, Geetu Bala, Monika, Yogita, Lucky Kathuria, Kulwinder Kaur, Sonia Sethi, Kanchan, Hardeep Kaur, Jyoti, Sukhjinder Pal Kaur, Vishal Chalana, and others stated that they were recruited 21 years ago and were regularized under the PICTES Society in 2011. However, the current government has dealt a severe blow to their salaries and benefits.
They informed that dozens of meetings held over the past four and a half years with Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, and AAP State President Aman Arora yielded no concrete results. The ministers offered nothing beyond false assurances, which amounts to a betrayal of the computer teachers.
The leaders reiterated that their demands are completely legitimate. Their main demands include merging computer teachers into the Education Department unconditionally, granting full pay and allowances under the Punjab Civil Service Rules, and immediately implementing the 6th Pay Commission. Additionally, financial assistance and a government job should be provided to the dependents of computer teachers who passed away due to any reason in recent times.
The leaders made it clear that if the state government fails to restore the rights of computer teachers in a timely manner, their struggle will soon take the form of a major movement on the streets of Sangrur, for which the state government will be entirely responsible.
