Bomb Threats to Temples & Punjab Civil Secretariat are a Direct Attack on Peace, Religious Harmony and National Unity: Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal
Ludhiana (Dhandari Kalan), 4 June 2026: National BJP leader and Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal, from the Ludhiana South Legislative Assembly Constituency, has strongly condemned the shocking bomb threat emails targeting the Durgiana Temple in Amritsar, Mukteshwar Temple, Devi Talab Temple in Jalandhar, Maiserkhana Temple in Bathinda, Kali Devi Temple in Patiala and the Punjab Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh.
Grewal wrote on the social media platform X that these threats are not merely attacks on specific institutions or places of worship but constitute a deliberate attempt to create fear, panic, instability, communal tension and psychological insecurity among the people of Punjab and Bharat.
He said that any conspiracy designed to intimidate innocent citizens, disturb public order, undermine religious harmony or weaken national unity must be viewed with the utmost seriousness and dealt with firmly under the law.
Grewal said that the people of Punjab have repeatedly rejected the politics of hatred, division, separatism, extremism and violence. Punjab’s future lies in peace, development, prosperity, brotherhood and national integration, not in threats, fear-mongering and foreign-sponsored propaganda.
Grewal further stated that certain anti-India elements operating from foreign soil have repeatedly attempted to provoke unrest, spread misinformation, glorify separatist narratives and create hostility against the nation. Such elements must understand that the people of Punjab stand firmly with peace, democracy, constitutional values and the unity and integrity of Bharat.
He said that it is deeply shameful that some individuals and organizations continue to exploit sensitive historical events and emotions for political agendas aimed at creating division and instability. No person or group has the moral right to use history as a tool to justify threats against innocent civilians, religious institutions or public establishments.
Grewal strongly denounced all forms of terrorism, extremism, separatism, intimidation campaigns and psychological warfare directed against India. He said that every attempt to create fear among citizens, target places of worship or disrupt social harmony deserves complete condemnation from every responsible member of society.
He further stated that Punjab has already paid a heavy price during decades of terrorism, extremism, gang violence and foreign-sponsored destabilization campaigns. Thousands of families suffered unimaginable pain and sacrifice during those dark years. The people of Punjab will never permit those destructive forces to drag the state back into an era of bloodshed, fear and instability.
Grewal said that every individual, network or organization involved in issuing threats, spreading terror, financing unlawful activities or attempting to destabilize society must be thoroughly investigated and brought before the justice system. The rule of law must prevail and no person responsible for threatening public safety should escape accountability.
He said that these bomb threats should serve as a reminder that hostile forces continue to seek opportunities to disturb peace and communal harmony. Therefore, citizens must remain vigilant, responsible and united while supporting law-enforcement agencies in safeguarding public security.
Grewal commended Punjab Police, the National Investigation Agency, intelligence agencies, bomb disposal squads, cyber investigation teams and all security personnel for their swift response, professionalism, vigilance and commitment to protecting the people of Punjab and India.
Grewal further stated that the individuals responsible for these threats must be identified, exposed and prosecuted in accordance with the law so that a strong message is sent that threats against religious places, public institutions and national security will never be tolerated.
He said that Punjab stands united against terrorism. Punjab stands united against extremism. Punjab stands united against separatism. Punjab stands united against fear and intimidation.
Grewal stated that no conspiracy, no threat, no extremist agenda and no anti-national propaganda campaign can weaken the spirit of Punjab or the strength of Bharat. The enemies of peace will fail because the people of Punjab and India remain firmly committed to harmony, democracy, development, national unity and the sovereignty of the nation.
