Gurdaspur: Teacher deputed for SIR allegedly commits suicide

Gurdaspur, July 8, 2026: A Government teacher deputed for SIR exercise has allegedly committed suicide.

According to available details teacher Gurpreet Singh s/o Mohinder Singh hailing from village Sallopur was a teacher at Government Primary School Jhanda Lubana. He was assigned role as BLO for SIR exercise.

Before jumping into Canal at Battian bridge he called his friend and disclosed that he was under tremendous pressure due to SIR exercise and was jumping in canal and his phone and other items are lying in his car.

Swimmers are trying to locate his body in the canal.
