Punjab moves SC, urges to allow 1,158 Govt College faculty to continue
New Delhi: Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains on Monday shared that the state government has petitioned the Supreme Court to modify its July 14, 2025 orders, seeking permission for 1,158 Assistant Professors and Librarians to continue in their posts, at least temporarily.
Bains said the move is crucial to prevent disruption in the academic functioning of government colleges and to protect students’ learning.
He added that the state is also exploring every possible legal remedy to safeguard these positions and ensure educational continuity.
